Survival course in the heart of
Madeira
Route and general information
Off the coast of Morocco, in the heart of the Atlantic, the "Garden Island," as it's known, boasts an endless array of landscapes with lush and vibrant vegetation. Madeira will surprise you as you follow animal trails and venture where no one else goes! You'll be transported to another world, far removed from typical tourism. After landing and spending your first night in Funchal, you'll set off to discover the hidden corners of the island's west coast to take on your challenge: reaching the south coast in "survival" mode! For four days, you'll learn essential survival skills: how to build a fire, find and prepare drinking water, set up a proper bivouac, find food, navigate, and more. A true adventure awaits, full of excitement and surprises. Madeira's unique charm will only make your experience even more magical.

TYPICAL ITINERARY (subject to change)
Day 1 "Go to Funchal" Flight from Paris to Funchal on the island of Madeira. Transfer to your accommodation. Dinner will be at your leisure during your evening stroll.
Day 2 "On the road to adventure"
You will have the opportunity to settle in with a free morning to discover the capital's highlights, such as its botanical garden and colorful houses. After lunch, which you can enjoy at your own pace, we will arrange your transfer to the south of the island, making sure to stop at Cabo Girão, the highest sea cliff on the island and in Europe. You will be staying near Porto Moniz, where the rest of the day will be spent exploring and stocking up on supplies for dinner. We will also take this opportunity to hold a briefing on the survival course.
Day 3 "Immersed"
After a short minibus ride, you and your companions (and our survival expert) will be dropped off in the wilderness. Here we go, you're in the thick of it! You'll need to quickly learn to communicate, read a map, help each other, and develop the right strategy to reach your extraction point! You'll learn to prioritize. The day will be spent progressing through a breathtaking landscape of clouds and ancient trees, lush forests and fields of short grass. As evening falls, it will be time to set up camp, build a fire without a lighter, and eat what you've gathered during the day.
Day 4 "Total Immersed"
As usual, you won't hike for more than 4 hours, and you'll make rapid progress to find the essentials to stay alive. Edible plants will soon hold no secrets for you. Setting your course will be a breeze, and setting up your bivouac will become increasingly easy. In a breathtaking setting, you'll learn to navigate by the stars after nightfall.
Day 5 "Total Immersion Continued"
The third day of your adventure will be another day of learning and discovery. You'll have grasped the survival course and will be in charge of making the best decisions. Finding food, making water, building a shelter for the night, navigating with whatever you have on hand, and helping each other will no longer be a mystery to you!
Day 6 "LIBERATION"
It's almost with regret that you'll see the end of your epic journey! You'll still have a bit of walking to do to reach the south side of the island in the afternoon. There, dinner, a bed, and a shower await you. You will be immersed in luxury and pleasure... You will spend a festive evening full of emotion and camaraderie.
Day 7 "on cloud nine"
After a good night's sleep in a comfortable bed and a hearty breakfast, we will return to Funchal for a free day or to organize a whale watching trip or even go tobogganing in Monte. Overnight stay in a hotel in the city center

Life is a challenge to be met, an adventure to be undertaken.

Thank you to Nomade and Denis Tribaudeau for the excellent, incredible, extraordinary experience I just had. I felt like Mike Horn at the ends of the earth! Madeira is a magnificent island, bursting with color and breathtaking landscapes. Feeling truly alive on an island in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean is a sensation I've never experienced before. The group was fantastic, and we'll long remember our laughter at the campsite that evening.
